Description
Possible over-watering at the new dog park, leaving the turf soft & muddy with lots of muddy puddles.
This is the really nice new grassy dog park by the Bay Street pedestrian bridge. I've visited a few times around midday, most recently on 7/25. The turf is often very soft and muddy with small puddles of water throughout.
It doesn't seem like this is intentional, as muddy turf tends to encourage digging by dogs, and obviously leave them kind of a mess running around in it. And obviously this may be a waste of water if that much is pooled up on the turf that late in the day. It seems like the park is often empty now after a lot of interest when it opened, likely because of this.

I have also been there and both sides have a large sloppy yet spot. My dog and another were both snagging clumps of wet smelly grass to eat. My dog also tried to sip from one of the puddles. The first day I tried the park, one dog rolled in the slop and went home covered in mud. Being that the other areas around the park are irrigated with gray water, I hope that the dog park is not also irrigated with the same water. Because that could be a health concern for the animals?
I am uninterested to return until the water situation is improved. Bummer too, because the park is nice and needed.
